One thing I feel very strongly: Cloud needs to say "fuck." I know in my heart he'd do it.

aerith and cloud's date is so bittersweet it's making me tear up again.. aerith wants to know him. what's under the facade. what he hasn't even realized himself... i really don't get the impression that aerith was romantically interested in cloud solely due to his resemblance to zack. she was initially curious, definitely. but those little differences she sees in cloud are what made her fall in love... and she wants to see more. she wants to meet... him
barret and tifa make me so emotional like you can tell there's a deep heartfelt trust between them... not even just that they'd die for each other but that they're both willing to sacrifice everything for the planet, the mission - and i think there's a quiet acceptance between them in that, too. two people who've lost nearly everything and lean on each other despite rocky ground.. i love them a lot
Thinking about Cloud assisting in a terrorist attack that killed innocent people just because he needed money and how this reflects the reality that broken systems can incentivize anyone to take drastic measures to survive. At this point in the game, Cloud doesn't even care about Shinra or the planet, he just needs money. And AVALANCHE is paying.
All right so, there's been two moments where I felt like I was supposed to read into Cid's dialog.
The first was when he talked about the planet being like a scared little kid. This felt like the kind of dialog I'm supposed to read as a projection of his own feelings.
The second was when he claimed he saw Loveless once a long time ago and fell asleep for most of it, then proceeded to quote the final lines in detail. This feels like I'm supposed to read his insistence that he didn't really care for the play as a straight-up lie.
Buuuuuuut this game doesn't seem to do that level of writing anywhere else, so I'm guessing I'm not actually supposed to interpret these lines this way.
But I Don't Wanna because I like the idea of Cid habitually dropping occluded detailed about himself because there's a lot he desperately wants to say, but is too afraid to say directly.
*Sulks*

Materia-related thoughts I had while playing FF7:
Of course it makes sense that your HP would go down when you equip magic and summon materia - it's converting some of your life force into available magic power.
Makes sense that double and triple growth equipment has fewer slots - it's condensing the energy.
What kind of designs and materials conduct energy more efficiently? Which ones don't?
Edit: Thought I had just now:
Does zero-growth equipment use the energy to enhance itself instead of conducting it into materia?
FF7 is so not subtle lol.
After Rufus arrives and announces that he's going rule through fear, Cloud fights him. Once you enter the battle, it's not just Rufus in the fight, though. He's got a dog named Dark Nation with him.
The previous Final Fantasy games always had, shall we say, certain political sentiments in them, but FF7 really dials it up to eleven.
