NHL Tracking
Slowly but surely hockey is joining the technology update that many other professional sports have already caught on to. Player tracking software can give coaches, athletes and teams more information than ever before. Instead of the primitive statistics like shots attempted or save percentage, player tracking gives insight to much more sophisticated information, like for example where a players favorite spot to shoot from is.
Like many other professional sports, the NHL is developing its player tracking software to gather as much knowledge about players and opponents as possible. But unlike other sports, hockey is much more complex while the clock is running. From constant line changes, to a 3 inch puck being passed around, it’s no wonder that this technology has taken so long to adapt to the NHL.
If all continues as planned, the effect this technology can have on the game is incredible. Please read the attached links to learn more specifics about player tracking in hockey.
