A few days ago, I posted a series of stories to show good play between dogs. People found it helpful so I took another video this morning and will cover the main points again. Play wrestling between dogs can look rough and overwhelming, so here are some body language cues you should look for to gauge if the play is appropriate and balanced. 1. Loose, wiggly bodies. Look at their postures and see that their movements are light, bouncy, and squiggly. 2. Taking turns being the “winner”. Good healthy play has both dogs taking turns being pinned by the other, and the pin only lasts a short while before they let the other go. 3. Sneezes. I left the sound on so you can hear our dogs sneeze throughout play. Sneezing is calming signal to show the other dog that this is only play and not real fighting. 4. Shaking it off. This usually happens during a break in play or at the end of play. It’s a way for the dogs to shake off the excitement that built up during play and gives them a chance to go phew! Remember, if playtime ever gets too crazy or one dog is no longer enjoying it, it is up to YOU as the owner to step in and break up the flow before it gets too out of hand. #Drewbert #Playbert #ItsMonaTime #ToWrestle https://www.instagram.com/p/B3o-ZaAAyUK/?igshid=1u4wtcks97kez
