I think it just has to do with the subject of your art! There are more people who are fans of Gorillaz, than there are fans of Damon Albarn (sadly). As a result, you'll get more notes on a piece of Gorillaz art than a picture of Damon.

I know what you mean. Wips can get more notes than the final product, or a 5 minute sketch will sometimes get more notes than a picture that took 4 hours. I think your Chimpz AU gets more notes because it's Gorillaz fanart, and is very humorous.
