I am so glad that we are finished seeding. This year we planted canola, wheat and red lentils. Many parts of the prairies are underwater this spring and we are very fortunate to have not been in that situation. Seeding went quite smoothly this year. Because of the excess moisture the fields had muddy areas and we were worried that we would get stuck frequently. It turned out that we only were stuck three times which is better than it has been for other farmers in the area. Before we put the equipment away, we are going to do about 6 quarters of custom seeding for another crew. Hopefully the weather will hold and we could get finished by the weekend. I am ready to be done with packing up the kids and running dinner and supper out to the field. And I'm pretty sure the kids can't wait to get their dad back. Kids don't see much of him when he's putting in long hours. Of course seeding doesn't mean a holiday until harvest, but taking a day off here and there is such a wonderful thing to be able to do. I hope all of your seeding is doing well. Here's to a bountiful year!
