As well, at some point in the near future Iām going to attempt changing the format of the mobile site. I also have a āmiscellaneousā category in the works that would give out a random fact about the planetāany suggestions?

Tall alien plants reach hundreds of meters into a pale blue sky. The colonists live in Ā tall cities of steel and concrete under airtight domes, beside rivers that flow into the planet's oceans. The cities are dominated by the headquarters of wealthy corporations that rule the population for their owners' enrichment. In the first city stand monuments to the 480 colonists who died building the first settlement and the seedship AI that guided humanity to its new home.
So, I got inspired by this little Unity tech-demo-y thing by the very talentedĀ Oskar StĆ„lberg.Ā Specifically I was interested in the terrain "painting".Ā So, I made this little mockup idea in photoshop.Ā At its core, its two noise layers, one base and one "dodge and burn", run through a threshold and thenĀ coloredĀ with gradient ramps (using the grayscale values for height)Ā My future plan is to try and port all the functionality into a java or HTML5 applet, so anyone can use it online. Anyway, if you want to play around with it, you can grab the .psd here (obviously being a .psd, you will need photoshop to open it)Ā
