Prompt 4 - Placement Reflection
I had an amazing time at my bilingual placement school. The school was small and contained and the staff were all so very friendly. The positive experience that I had was that I got to experience teaching at year 3&4 classroom and a year 2 classroom. They were very different in their learning styles. The recent placement at a year 2 classroom, I got to see students reading every morning after their morning duties. The students read for 10 minutes straight. Majority of the students in year 2 read chapter books that were recommended by their teacher and once they read a chapter or so, they have to record it in their readers book to indicate how many pages or chapters they read every day at school and at home. This was a different learning experience for me. There was no negative experience in my two weeks at placement.Â
Every Tuesday, in my placement school the year 2 students did guide reading with an adult and SRA a comprehension test which they do individually. This enables and helps the students with their reading and comprehension skills in the classroom.Â
