We are so much struggling (and enjoying) to balance Sashiko & our Life. We have several “challenges” to see if Sashiko fits our society somehow including the one that I (Atsushi) doesn’t purchase any new cloth since 2017. ☆ A friend once told me that I shouldn’t introduce Sashiko with topics regarding money or “personal life” because the people who purchase “Art” do not want to know about the scene behind the Art. Well, it may be true if I define Sashiko as the Art, but that’s not what I would like to pass down. ☆ (So personal stuff from here) The Sashiko I would like to pass down is the “un-edited” Sashiko. Emotions from joy and suffering, so-called “ordinary life”, create the beauty of hand-stitching Sashiko.What I present on SNS and website is as raw as I can make. I (Atsushi) neither want to be an Artist who challenge the society by his creation nor a business person who cares about finance only. I would like to be the decent person (father) who (can leave the message to the next generation that he) is proud of what he was given in his life, with accepting who he is and what he has. I am tired of opinions. I am trying to spread the empathy by introducing my & most importantly, Keiko’s work. ☆ Life goes on. Speed and Efficiency are the key of innovation, and innovation makes the society more convenient and productive. I am so grateful to be in this world now so I can connect to many people through Internet. However, there are people who cannot be as speedy & efficient as the other would be. I want them to be “okay” with who they are. I have seen it before.
