You know the feeling where you watch an actor or actress in one fictional project and then they're in another one and you can't unsee the other fictional character they played? Especially when it comes to shipping them with another fictional character…
Yes, many actors are like this. For example, Harrison Ford, he plays a lot of different characters, but he plays them all the same, if you look close enough. Same mannerisms, same kind of speech pattern, etc. Even actors like Jon Seda and Jared Padalecki haven’t impressed me with other roles I’ve seen them in.
The only people I’ve found that aren’t like that are Benedict Cumberbatch (he’s amazing) and Patrick John Fleuger (he impressed me in Law and Order: SVU). Honestly, that’s why I watch things with them in it, because you can see how they change and adapt to the character. Same face, but completely different name, mannerisms, personality, speech pattern, background, and character. It’s amazing, and when you find a good actor, stick with them.
That’s why I’ve watched a lot of Benedict Cumberbatch stuff (Patrick Melrose, Dr. Strange, Sherlock, The Imitation Game), because he’s just such a great actor no matter what character he plays, and they’re all different and very clearly so. It’s more immersive that way.
Es amor.
A more straightforward adventure sequel to Feast Unknown with Tarzan (...well, close enough) fighting a conspiracy that rules the earth of nine immortals from the stone age...this one has maybe the single greatest opening in all of adventuredom: it begins, on the first page, with Tarzan leaping out of a plane without a parachute at 10,000 feet....and surviving when he hits water.
That’s called “setting the outer limits of reality” (it’s why the most fantastical thing in any given story is in the first scene, like how the first scene in Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire are the Others/White Walkers, despite the fact they won’t be important for a little while, or how the first scene in It’s A Wonderful Life, you have angels talking). If you’re on board with that, you’re on board with anything.
