Friday night my daughter and I had a lovely girls night in Chapel Hill. Liza was my art partner and we set out for LIGHT art + design gallery to see the new show featuring pieces by artist Martha Clippinger. Liza took a “Pattern and Design” camp with Martha this summer and loved it! (Oh, don’t get me started, there is such great programming out there– like cooking camp she went to at Greenbutton Farm where the kids being home dinner each night, yes please!). The show at LIGHT was great and we had a nice visit with Martha and had a great visit with artist Leigh Suggs, whom was passing through town on her way to Penland to teach a workshop. Liza and I promptly fell in love with a plush rug (pictured above #shofie!). By that time it was time for us t hit the road and we were hungry. I remembered at my last haircut that Cara at DB Sutton & Co. had raved about how good Pizzeria Mercato in Carrboro is. We hightailed it over and we’re lucky enough to get seats at the bar. I loved it when we pulled in and saw it’s next to Country Junction, home of where I used to get ham biscuits nine years ago when I was pregnant with Liza, before hitting the Carrboro Farmers Market! Loved the modern feel and hip but homey crowd at Mercato, everything on the menu looked great but I couldn’t order it all, since there were only two of us… octopus, okra and a pizza margherita were 👌! Little did we know my sister and niece had just been dinig there too! (when my daughter found out she exclaimed “why world, why did they have to just leave 15 minutes ago?!”). Alas it was fun anyway and delish. We got s chocolate chip cookie to go and it was the bomb. Lucky for me Liza did not gobble it down so more for me to try! We were supposed to meet our fellas at the Bulls game (go Bulls!) but we just had to head home to chill. (Sometimes we can do it all, but not that night!)
