#pixie's fantasmal circus

The heavy January winds ram onto the walls of the circus tent, making the entrance dance. Through the opening, you see a figure moving back and forth; a blur of red flashes in and out of sight. With a step forward, you can see it’s the young ringmaster, Pixie. She’s pacing rapidly near the entrance, holding on tight to her bell necklace with one hand and swinging her arm around back and forth rapidly with the other. She hasn’t noticed you yet. A quiet “thh thhhhhh th thhhhh thhh” sound with whistles is heard as she quietly mutters to herself and her lisp and gap tooth gets in the way. Pixie seemed focused on something, but you couldn’t tell what. In a blink, she’s suddenly missing… until you see her looking up right in front of you, her eyes sparkling like a cartoon character.

Hello…? Harunii… are you there? she called in a quiet, hopeful voice. I brought you a present…

They waited, listening carefully, but everything stayed still.

…Maybe she’s busy… Mary whispered to herself.

After a small pause, they knocked again, just a tiny bit louder—still gentle, still unsure. No answer.

Slowly, they knelt down and placed the gift neatly in front of the door, smoothing the ribbon like it mattered.

I’ll just… leave it here for you… hm....

They stayed there for a second longer, like she didn’t really want to go yet.

(Inside the present was a soft pink dress decorated with delicate ribbons and mini hearts all over the dress, a tiny crochet set, and a small plushie made to look like Harunii. There was also a bundle of dried flowers, tulip, roses, lilies, Daisys any kind of flower. carefully wrapped.)

Tucked between everything was a little note, written in small, careful handwriting:

" Happy birthday, Harunii ♡ "

" -Mary "

Harunii was busy blow drying her hair, so she didn't hear Mary at first. The second, faint call made her pause and turn off her hair dryer, putting it down. Listening in, she finally heard Mary's voice. She immediately fixed up her hair the best she could and rushed to go open her door.

``-Mary!! Hi! Sorry, I was just getting ready...``

Her foot lightly nudged the gift, causing her to look down and notice it. Her eyes widened with a mix of surprise and glee.

``Hehe, is that for me? D'awhhh, you didn't have to, Mar-Mar!``

She exclaimed, picking up the gift and fully stepping back into her room. She makes an inviting gesture to Mary to let her know she can come inside.

Harunii walks over to her bed and sits down. While unboxing the gift, her jaw dropped at all these cute little gifts. So thoughtful! So sweet! So...

She suppressed the last delusional thought she had in her head.

``Oh-my-gosh. Mary, seriously, you're too kind!! And nice, and... Words can't even express how happy I am right now. I just- EEEEEK!!!``

Her happiness just exploded right there as she hugged Mary impulsively for a little. She immediately let go after, saying:

There’s something wrong with Pixie’s circus. They move like puppets without strings—too smooth, too empty. When they look at me, I feel like my soul’s being eaten. Only Harunii doesn’t make my hands shake.

xx Turns out it was Elizabeth. Again. In disguise as the alleged Birthday Girl, Emma. S and her had a fight (physically, though I don't doubt mentally) and well.

S won. Elizabeth's body disappeared after their duel. S and Crow are laying under the radar for the while. . . understandable, really.

Something tells me that this won't be the last we see of Elizabeth however. It's just the start of something else. But what?
