The weather’s getting warmer, the sun is shining, everyone outside enjoying the sunshine, but with the nice warm weather and beautiful sunny days, comes the inevitable: armpit funk.  Listen: you can’t prevent yourself from sweating (unless you use botox, who’s really doing all of that? I mean, really), but you CAN do your part to keep the funk at bay, starting with what you put under your arms.
Your see, few of us wear deodorant, which simply uses fragrance to mask the smell of odor.  What we most commonly refer to as deodorant is usually antiperspirant, which is actually considered a drug by the Food and Drug Administration, as it alters our body’s chemicals by clogging our pores, so we don’t sweat as much.  Sometimes our pores remain clogged even after a shower because there are certain areas between your folds of skin, you simply cannot reach with soap and water.  This can make odor-causing bacteria build up, creating a more intense smell each time you sweat.Â
If you’re not willing to give up using antiperspirants, here a tip that helped me out a great deal: Use distilled white vinegar to destroy that odor-causing bacteria that builds up in your armpits. Add a small amount of distilled white vinegar (maybe 2 tbsp worth) to a damp washcloth or paper towel and rub it under your arms. You can leave it on for 15 mins or even overnight and then shower as normal.  I do this as part of my Sunday routine every week and I have to say: it works WONDERS. Â
Distilled white vinegar also works well on sweaty clothes. Â Put a cup into the washing machine or apply the vinegar to specific areas of your clothes, like the armpits of gym shirt, for example. Â It will kill the bacteria, allowing your clothes to smell like brand new. Â Â Â
