Kauan's music has captivated me for several years now, in large part due to their unique blend of doom metal and experimental elements. Their distinct sound is at its best on Pirut, a release that is in truth just one song in 8 parts. Interestingly, this album was in part inspired by the meteor that fell near the band's hometown of Chelyabinsk, Russia in early 2013.
Heavy, melancholic, dreamy, and above all heartfelt, Pirut is a winner of an album that I feel I can always return to.
