Pirkka (Finland)

Pirkka. The cheap home brand of the Kesko grocery store chain. This particular bag is an old variant that was phased out in the latter half of 2025.

They were not bad though. The same tight waves as we've seen with Broadway and Manhattan, but Pirkka chips were more brittle. It resulted in a large amount of small, broken pieces in the bottom of the bag, which was not helped by the rather tight packaging that didn't leave much air inside. The positive side of that brittleness was a very munchable chip that wasn't hard on your palate or gums.

Pirkka chips had a strong flavor profile, which was pleasantly creamy. The creaminess is a surprisingly rare feature among the chips I've had and many screams forget that it's not all about the onion. Very much enjoyed these when they were still available.

Another perk was the price. As a low brow brand, Pirkka chips are often a good 20-30% cheaper than other similar options. Paired with a hefty 300g bag size they were hard to be disappointed by. If a large amount of crumbs turns you off however, maybe they weren't the choice for you.
