The three people Sebastian Augustus Moran would die for ( and the two that died before he could ).         If you know anything about Basher -- know that he hates himself more than he can ever hate anyone. That said, Sebastian ❛ Bastian ❜ Moran, his other half, is the one person he loves more than he can ever put to words. So maybe it’s rough going sometimes, so what? Everyone fights and sometimes... sometimes you can’t help it when you find yourself winding down a familiar path, drinking too much, leaking sadness. And so maybe they’re technically the same person ( as long as Bastian isn’t pulling a Jimmy ) --- who knows what you like in bed better than yourself? Heh. They need each other. Nearly six years in and neither could go it alone, not without the other.        Basher Moran is not synonymous with family man. Fact is, if he never had to hear the name AUGUSTUS again, if he never had to deal with Alice, if being disowned meant he was his own man, he’d be better off. And he sure as shit will never have a kid. The Moran line dies with him. But then there’s Francine Moran, his cousin, nineteen years younger than him. And if you asked him four years ago if he thought she’d be living with him now, he’d laugh in your face. He doesn’t know how she managed it --- maybe he saw a lot of himself in her. Maybe blood really is a strong bond, and maybe his father just ruined it for him. Either way, she’s his best friend and you can bet your arse he’d give anything to keep her safe.        You’d think him lying when he says he’s not about family and it turns out two of the people he’d die for are just that. But Pippa is... something else. It isn’t love like it is for Bastian or Francie. At least, not nearly to the same levels. But there’s something between a brother and sister ( when they don’t hate each other like he and Alice ) that he reckons you’re just expected to give. He’d die for her, sure, but more in the way that he would feel too guilty if he didn’t give it his all to prevent whatever catastrophe happened to put her in Death’s way. And she’s good to him, better than he deserves. Looking the other way when Alice probably would’ve shipped him off to prison. Hell, she’s the reason he never got into any real trouble after his discharge -- pleading to their older sister until she stepped in. Maybe... maybe it’s that he owes her. His life, his love. What with how many times she’d saved his hide? Yeah, that must be it.
