she's a huge flirt. like she lovesssss it it's like a sport for her. she just thinks it's so fun. she particularly likes flirting with women who are a little older than her (jackie pike)

she loves the rain. she grew up in hurricanes that were genuinely something to be afraid of but she also knew it was the infrastructure that failed her community and the people that were supposed to keep them safe, not the hurricane itself. to her, those are her storms. her beautiful forces of nature. she's the type to, if there's a tornado warning, sit out on the porch and watch

now i actually have to preface this one, to me, #myhayden is so so ex-religious coded (specifically ex evangelical). it's why ilya telling him he's bad at hockey gets to him, because he knows he's good at hockey but the thought of not being good enough still scares him because that's how he got out. he had to be good enough to leave and when he got out he barely ever looked back. he nearly never spoke to his parents. shane was so important to him as a friend because he left everyone he knew behind for a chance to get out. and oh, when ilya finds out. when they look at each other and see the look of someone who escaped mirrored. a severe shift in the fucking force field of their friendship happens.

her deeply complicated relationship with religion, despite how much she's worked on it, still pervades her everyday life. she recites Luke 2:8-10 when she's scared. one night, she babysits the pike kids while the pike family is staying with shane and ilya. hayden has the baby monitor on and hears amber fussing so he opens the app and then pippas in the nursery picking amber up and rocking her gently and hayden is like "aw that's so sweet" and then softly, he hears her sing to amber, in a way only someone like either of them would recognize. she's so quiet but hayden knows the words, even if he couldn't hear them. she's sings "he's got the whole world in his hands" like it's a tether to something she's not sure she should hang on to and amber hushes. And jackie's looking over his shoulder but not close enough to hear her and she comments on how fast amber calmed and he doesn't have the heart to tell her it's because she recognizes the some. it's one of the ones hayden sings to her, while she still won't understand the words to ask him what they mean, one of the ones etched in his mind. and hayden looks at her eyes as they look at his baby and he sees not the look he and ilya share, but one of someone who didn't want to leave, but had to. the look of someone who would have given anything to stay but just couldn't. not with her soul still intact. it fucking shatters hayden and no one can get out of him why he's so quiet the rest of dinner because it is NOT his place to share it. he wraps pippa in a hug about it later. suddenly he has an eldest daughter, and even if she's only a few years younger he doesn't give a fuck. his baby now.

right now that we've covered that it's time for a TONAL SHIFT

she's a switch however if she's recieving she needs the other person to be getting off at the same time. she wants them to feel just as insane as she does. is this because she's terrified of being vulnerable? of course it is. she will not be exploring that. double ended straps or strap vibrator combos are her best friend.
