You’re not bothering at all, I’m happy to try to help! I lived at the University View apartment complex for FC (and actually still live here now), and they only do year-long leases so I don’t know anyone who transferred to a dorm for the spring semester, but to my knowledge all of my friends who wanted to dorm for their sophomore year got in without a problem.
Hi! So I'm sandhya and I'm a senior and I got in UMD and I was stalking the freshman connection tag... Was it really as bad as you made it sound? :( cause I'm conflicted between Maryland and McDaniel.. who gave me a bunch of money.. idk ahh
FC is just a really weird program. I’m honestly glad that I went through it though, I met people with whom I am still friends now, and I feel like it was almost just like another semester to transition to college before you had to join the rest of the school. I wasn’t happy all of the time, but that was due to more than just my FC circumstances. Once the spring semester starts, you feel more a part of the rest of the student body and it’s much more of the typical college experience. Some good points of FC are that it offers smaller class sizes, so you’re not just thrown into some huge lectures your first semester in colleges, and I really liked how I didn’t have to get up early every morning to go to class due to the afternoon class times.
UMD is a really great school and I’m very happy with my decision to have gone through FC to be a student here today. FC only lasts a semester, and then you have at least 3 and a half more years (traditionally) to continue enjoying UMD. Don’t let something like FC hold you back, and if it’s financially possible for you, don’t pick a school just because of money if you would prefer to go somewhere else. However, if you think that McDaniel would be a better fit for you, then you should definitely go for that, too!
