He sent the younger a worrying glance as they walked into the room,
a rush of anxiety threatening to make him start hyperventilating. Even
though he’d heard his grandfather talking with Ford down here only
hours ago, the place looked like it hadn’t been touched in decades.
The cobwebs that decorated the ceiling looked way more intricate and
untouched than anything he’d seen in Rick’s garage, and the floorboards
creaked like they were threatening to give way to whatever lay beneath
them.
The fact that they were in the basement should have eased some of his
worries- you couldn’t get any lower than a basement, right?- but knowing
Rick and his friends, there could be any number of horrible things beneath
them. Acid, spikes, some kind of horrifying alien pit monster... He gulped,
rubbing at the side of his arm as he turned to Mabel for some sort of
reassurance.
“A-Are you sure it’s okay for us to be down here, w-without your uncle
Ford. Or, uh. Great Uncle Ford? Wh-What’s that thing you and Dipper
say? G-Grunkle? I mean... Rick hates it when I go into the garage when
he’s not in there, a-and that’s where my dad’s car is usually parked, too!
Wouldn’t- A-Are you sure we should be snooping like this?”
Maybe it was just him, but this whole “adventure” was starting to feel like
some horrible horror movie cliche, and call him crazy, but Morty really
didn’t want to die at the hands of a crazy science experiment gone wrong.
