💃When I signed up to sing at VBS a few months ago, I had no idea there would be "hand motions", much less full-on dancing! Have I mentioned that I don't dance? Like, at all. I never learned the Cupid Shuffle or the Electric Slide, because I never quite mastered Right vs. Left and which was which (this has been a huge frustration in my life...I mean, it's only two choices! I have a 50% chance of getting it right! And yet, I still get it wrong so often). When I was practicing the moves I got all in my head and I cried. I imagined the kids heckling me and throwing their Bibles at me. I imagined forever being "that spastic girl that we never allowed on stage again" at church. . . 🙈This was a true lesson of something @ruthsoukup says all the time, which is "focus on what you have to give, not how you will be perceived." For all my overthinking and self-doubt, the moment I got up there it instantly vanished. I was able to focus on those shy kids who were too scared to participate and encourage them to participate and dance along... Seeing their little smiles and confidence grow was amazing! I immediately forgot about any hangups I had.
