Ski Train approaches Cliff on its way to Winter Park Pinecliffe, CO March 25, 2005

The Rio Grande Ski Train curves out of Tunnel 29 east of Pinecliffe, Colorado, on the afternoon of June 17, 2000. This summer edition of the train operating a round trip from Denver to Winter Park is powered by Rio Grande EMD GP60 Nos. 3154 and 3155.

With two GP40-2s charging up the 2% grade, Rio Grande’s ski train is a little over half way to the slopes at Winter Park at the west portal of Moffat Tunnel. The unique motor car shed at Pinecliffe has long disappeared along with the putt-putt cars. Jan. 31, 1981.
American Orient Express, Leyden to Crescent, CO, Oct. 26, 2005
On October 26, 2005, Amtrak P42DC locomotives hauled the American Orient Express over the Moffat Tunnel Route from Denver Union Station. The passenger train traversed through Leyden and Crescent, Colorado, on its trek west. The Continental Divide can be seen just beyond Crescent siding. Until the recession hit in 2008, the AOE offered luxurious rail tours over various scenic rail lines throughout North America. On the point were Amtrak Genesis diesels, numbers 188 and 163. Finally, Amtrak's westbound California Zephyr entered Tunnel 29 in Pinecliffe, running three hours late, with P42DC units 182 and 76 in the lead.
