#pinburgh

A new, post-pinburgh C2C episode! Nate does a really good job of putting some perspective on post-tournament attitude. A lot of what he's saying is a little bit scary, but very true. For example, he mentions how placing in D was a good thing because his level of practice wouldn't really match B division. 

The scary part was hearing about the level of skill he was seeing in D division; drop catches, post passes, live catches, etc. I can't even live or drop catch purposefully! Not to mention the fact that pinball is growing so fast (which is great, really) and Pinburgh may even increase to 1000 player slots next year! Knowing all this, placing in C feels barely reachable. 

 I suppose that existential dread and self-doubt is further motivation for me to continue watching toots and practicing as much as possible. I'm not sure I mentioned it before, but I've set a goal for next year's Pinburgh; to place at least top 50 in C. This is one of the main reasons I've been watching tutorials every day. I have a year to work hard and absorb any rules/skills I can. 

An intense, I daresay, life-changing weekend at Pinburgh. I came away from this trip with a few new friends, some insight into gameplay/strategy and a whole lot of really special moments. This weekend made me want to become a better tech and a more serious, improved player. I also want to get in better shape physically so I can have more endurance. Here are my goals:

1: I am going to work harder on being a knowledgeable tech. No way I'll ever get as good as the guys who were running around the convention hall but I can always try. I'm actually gonna' read and take notes/highlight from my Randy Fromm manual and ask more in-depth questions at work.

2: I'm going to work on being a better player by watching tutorials and reading rulesets/tilt forums posts. I don't absorb info by reading very easily but trying to study what's up before I practice couldn't hurt. 

3: I'm going to "Show Up" more. I'd like to hit up more Belles and Chimes matches and maybe a few ORD tourneys if I can swing it. And if I can afford it, competitions at some of the bigger events (Expo and next years' Pinburgh for sure)
