It's their second date and Pim is walking Pang home. Pang had been the one to suggest it, and Pim wasn't about to refuse.

Besides, dinner with Pang had been wonderful. Pang had smiled and laughed at all of Pim’s silly jokes. Pang had talked about herself and her plants and her dreams. Pang had agreed to stay after the meal for a drink, and then another, and then one more until the restaurant owner had come to tell them it was closing time.

So here they are on the empty street, walking close enough for their arms to brush even if they are most definitely not holding hands.

“This is it,” Pang says, pointing at a nearby building, and they stop in a little well of darkness between two street lamps.

Pim blushes, grateful for the shadows here, because she can’t stop the stupid smile on her face, nor how much she doesn't want this night to end.

So Pim looks away instead. “Goodnight,” she mumbles.
