Pillywiggins - Looking for Evidence
Do you know of any appearances of fairies called “pillywiggins,” in any kind of media, from before 1977? Did you grow up with family stories of these sprites?
If so, I’d love to hear from you! I have an ongoing research project on pillywiggins (as you may know if you follow my blog). I hope to figure out whether they’re really from British folklore, or if they’re actually a modern story that’s been presented as a traditional myth. (Based on research so far: they are not from Wales, as is commonly claimed.) I’m also tracking how they’ve evolved in modern culture.
