I was looking at our good ol' pal PikáGame again when I realized it had Japanese writing on it. I can actually read Japanese, and I've been wondering the origins of this stupid thing for a while. Needless to say, it was a little exciting.
However, it reads, "ぁどきおウか".
This is literally gibberish. It's just a mash of random Japanese characters. Googling it, all I got in the results was exclusively related to PikáGame.
This picture lets us see a more HD version of the Pikachu on the box, as well as showing us this bootleg is not nativley Japanese nor Chinese.
This version of the Pikachu mascot is the most common, as it is on almost every box.
However, a second version exists with the same gibberish text. This one though has a different drawing of Pikachu, but I cannot find any other pictures with this specific Pikachu.
A Japanese blogpost has contributed a number of helpful images related to Pikágame, to its box, the contents, and what the game actually is (spoiler: it's a famiclone with a bunch of typical roms).
When speaking about the text 「ぁどきおウか」 the blogger had this to say:
「日本語わからんなら書くな」
Which translates, "if you don't understand Japanese, then don't write it."
