âKass, you packed yet?â
A tiresome groan answered.
That was easily translated into a âNo.â
George was taking Kassie someplace and he hadnât told her where. So Kassie was entirely unprepared, not knowing what to expect, and it was showing in her bag packing completion.
âCanât you pack it?â she almost whined, coming into the bedroom and face-plopping herself onto the bed. A string of mumbled sounds came from beneath her.
âI donât speak Mumbler, Kass,â George told her as he went to rummage through one of her drawers. ââHow do you find anything in here?â
Kassie groaned again and rolled onto her back. âGeorgieee,â now actually whining, âcanât you just tell me?â
âNo. Itâll ruin the surprise.â George pulled out a couple tops and stuffed them into a magic-enhanced bag before moving onto the next drawer.
Kassie huffed and crossed her arms. It wasnât that she didnât like surprisesâit was the whole waiting part that bothered her.
Kassie rolled again. This time onto her stomach and looked over at George. âBut itâs just you and me? No one else, right?â she enquired curiously.
âRight,â he gave her. He wasnât saying anymore then that. His lips were sealed and he refused to budge.
âIs this a date?â
He paused but quickly went back to collecting her things. âI suppose you can call it that, if you like.â He smirked to himself, unable to stop the flashback of their first date and how she refused to call it that. He had to admit it made him a bit smug.
âHow long are we going to be gone? Whoâs going to take care of Tobias?â
âI asked Ginny to look after him.â
âBut what aboutâ?â
âKass, relax, would you?â He chuckled softly and went to place a kiss on top of her head. âI put a lot of effort into planning this. All the arrangements have been made. Thereâs no getting out of it.â
Kassie let out a sigh of defeat. âFineâŠâ
George kissed her head again. âYouâll love it. Trust me.â
âOkay.âOpen them.â
Kassie blinked and eagerly took in the sight that George had insisted on hiding until just the right moment.
A huge body of water was the first thing to be noticed. Grainy sand, the next. And a formation of a couple of huge massifs and an outstretched rock wall behind them that could not be overlooked.
âThat..would explain the noise,â Kassie nodded toward the ocean and its roaring waves. She shook her head as she looked around some more, but with a smile on her lips. âWhich I thought it might be; because at first, I thought we were at our beach⊠Where even are we? Itâs gorgeousâŠâ
George walked beside her as she curiously looked around, feeling proud of himself. âWeâre just off the coast of New Zealand. Some island that no one really cares about.âSomething about its small size compared to the surrounding ones. I dunnoâŠâ He shrugged. âIt seems nice enough to me.â
Kassie ripped her eyes away from the scenery and looked at her companion with a sort of shocked disbelief. âAre you joking? No oneâs here?â
âWell, I imagine there might be a few indigenous creaturesââ
âBut no people?â
George smiled at her. âNo.âNot that Iâm aware of, at least.â
Kassie giggled happily and went up to him. âOur own island. Just for us. Sounds like the very best idea for a date.â She kissed his lips. âThank you.â
âMm. Wanna thank me again?â
That earned him another giggle but not what he asked.
George looked at her and she wore a mischievous smirk.
In a swift movement, she shoved him back and took off running down the beach, yelling behind her, âNo freebies!â
âOi!â George just shook his head, unable to stop his amused chuckle, and dropped the bag, sprinting after her. If she thought she could outrun him, she was about to find out that she was sorely mistaken.
âIncendio.â Sparks of light shot out from the tip of the wand and ignited the small tepee of weathered wood.
âYou better have brought supplies for Sâmores or Iâm leaving you right now,â Kassie threatened with her arms crossed, watching the small flames begin to grow and cast shadows upon the cooled sand.
âOh, is that so?â George asked, amused. âGuess itâs good I came prepared, then.â He whipped out the marshmallows only to throw one at her.
Kassie squeaked slightly but then giggled as she went to sit on his lap, and George handed her the bag of sugary treats while he reached for the graham crackers and chocolate.
âYou really did think of everything, didnât you.â Kassie observed, in awe really.
âMmâhm.â
âWhat about food?âThatâs not just more Sâmores and sweeties.â
âI brought some.â He picked up a thin stick, that he had gathered earlier for this very occasion, and stabbed a marshmallow. âSince I knew you wouldnât eat any of the fish I would have so honourably caught for you.â
âWhat about sleeping?â
âI believe you can still do that here.â
She shoved against his shoulder, causing him to smile and answer the question he knew her to be asking. âI got a tent.â
ââI didnât see a tent.â
âYeah,â he pulled back the now-crispy marshmallow and carefully smeared it onto a cracker. âHas anyone ever told you that youâre extremely unobservant?â
With an unamused scowl, Kassie snatched the almost completed Sâmore, clamped it together, and shoved it in her mouth. Although her cool demeanor was interrupted by a small coughing fit, from trying to stuff the whole thing in her mouth, and George couldnât help but laugh. âServes you right.â He patted her back, more to help her rather to mock her, but Kassie took it oppositely and moved herself from him, going to sit on the sand with her back to him.
âAw, Kass, câmon. I was only joking.â
Nothing but silence rang back.
With a sigh, George dropped the stick and clambered over to his girlfriendâs small frame. âLove,â he spoke into her ear, âcâmon. Donât be angry.â Kassie moved her head away from him, still not answering. There was no way she was going to give in that easy.
George sighed again, but just as he thought about backing off a spur-of-the-moment kind of thought arose and he took advantage of it.
It was almost instantaneous. A chill climbed up Kassieâs spine, nearly enticing a moan along with it, as Georgeâs lips brushed along her neck. Damn him for knowing her weakness and just how to exploit it.
Noticing the subtle shift in her muscles, George moved back her hair and latched his mouth to the crook of her neck, sucking ever so gently.
It wasnât long before the slowness and lack of touching became too much for Kassie to ignore, and she found herself turning towards him. All pretense of being actually upset with him gone.
In a brief moment, their eyes met, and in the next, their lips, crashing together like two waves. Passion spilled out from the kiss from both ends, eliciting soft sighs and clutching of clothes, creating fireworks and warm heat.
Kassie took the initiative and pushed George back, with her landing on top of him as he leaned all the way back against the blanket.
âBeach kink. You think thatâs a thing?â George mumbled in between a kiss.
Kassie rolled her eyes, but a smirk formed. âShut up,â she whispered before recapturing his lips. And just to make sure he did, she naughtily rubbed her hips against his, hard, causing him to groan and her to smile as the noise sent a current of desire to her core.
George gripped her hips, his fingers slipping under her shirt, feeling her smooth skin, before suddenly needing to feel more. At a tug on the fabric and a muttered command, Kassie pulled back and shed the shirt, leaving her in nothing more than a small string bikini top. Georgeâs eyes greedily soaked in the sight, feeling himself harden beneath her and his need for her grow. Kassie seemed to sense it, or maybe a need of her own had arisen, because she leaned back down and kissed him as enthusiastically as before if not slightly more.
He grasped at one of her breasts, kneading it gently, and she moaned softly. With that bit of encouragement, he slid his other hand up and slowly pulled on the strings that held her bathing suit to her, revealing even more skin as it fell away. âGeorge,â Kassie whispered against his lips, almost as a plea; her hair almost completely orange now. She was craving him, and the material between them were annoying barriers; she wanted them gone.
Goosebumps formed along his skin, and George swiftly flipped them both, assuming the top position. He gave her another, sweet kiss before removing his own shirt, tossing off to the side, and moved down to pepper kisses along the length of her body. Kassie squirmed slightly and her fingers found his hair, tangling between the fiery mass, as she tried to hold back moans. With that small gesture, another switch turned on, and Georgeâs swimming shorts were now entirely too constricting. He reached down to remove them, but stopped at the last minute, and instead switched to Kassieâs denims, slowly undoing them and fumbling slightly just to drive her crazy. Which if her low whine was any indication, he was doing a good job at doing just that. He smirked, wetting his lips as he felt even more swelling happening just beneath the hem of his shorts. Effortlessly, this woman drove him just as mad, and it was hardly a question as to how.
With Kassie left in her bathing suit bottoms, George trailed a finger along the rim of the piece, teasing her, before going deeper.
âI..hate you,â Kassie claimed, her quivering tone and a following gasp denying any truth to that statement.
âI know,â George replied with a soft chuckle. But eventually, after deciding she had enough, he removed the last remaining fabric bits, fully exposing them both.
Even though they had made love a few times before, each time was exciting and passionate, just like the first time. In fact, it only seemed to get better each time it happened. Whether they were getting better at it, or memorizing what each other liked, or just knowing how to touch the other. It hardly mattered. What mattered is it felt right, to both of them, from start to finish, like two pieces being fitted together, and nothing, not even their little spats, seemed to be able to change that.
As their heartbeats began to slow into a gentler rhythm, George, now with his back on the blanket, gathered Kassie closer to him, and pulled an extra covering over them. With the dying fire beside them, the chill of the night air had begun to settle, calling for at least some protection.
Kassie settled into Georgeâs bare chest, smiling absentmindedly as she started to trace invisible designs on his skin. Happy. Content. Lost in the moment. Things she wasnât often.
George was feeling along the same line, and if he never had to move again, he wouldnât care; it would be entirely too soon.
âTold you I had it all taken care of,â he murmured into her dark hair.
âSorry I doubted you,â Kassie said with a small chuckle.
âYou should be.â He placed a light kiss on the top of her head. After a short pause, he sighed deeply. âThis is going to sound incredibly lame, but Iâm trying to enjoy the stars, but all I keep seeing instead is your face.â He felt her laugh against him, causing him to grin stupidly. âIâm serious. Itâs distracting, and you need to stop.â
âIâm not doing anything!â she insisted, giggling. âItâs your head, ya loon.â
âBut itâs your face!â
âSo?â
âSo Iâm partial to your face. And my brain knows it. So therefore itâs your fault.â
âThat..makes absolutely no sense.â
âIt makes perfect sense and you know it.â
Kassie just shook her head and rolled her eyes, deciding to let him have it. âWhatever you say, love.â She smiled again, snuggling closer as she let her eyes shut, completely comfortable in the arms of the ginger. âWhatever you say.â

âDo you remember when we first met?â Kassie asked out of the blue.
She turned her head toward George, with a smile on her face.
ââCourse I do,â he said, not bothering with opening his eyes. âYou had to have been the most energetic First Year since me and Fred, I reckon.â He chuckled softly at a memory. âMaybe even more.â
Kassie laughed with him. She could remember the excitement of the new place; the energy to learn all there was; the ambition to be the best witch there ever was (beside her mum, of course). âAh, to be young and naive again,â she said in a mocking sort of way before giggling again.
George propped open an eye and glanced at her. âWhy do you ask?â
Kassie lifted a shoulder in a shrug. âJust wondering⊠Your point of view was very different from mine.â
âOh?â He was turned toward her now, both eyes open, studying her. âWhat makes you so sure?â
âI was the little kid,â she stated simply. âJust a kid who met your sister, and you were⊠You and Fred were likeâŠthe coolest kids I ever met!â
George couldnât help but laugh at the relived expressions that played on her face. âBut we barely exchanged small talk, what made you so impressed?â
Kassie pursed her lips slightly. âGinny might ofâŠwarned me to stay away from you. Telling me that you two were a couple of troublemakers, always causing all types of mischief... Then she used Lee as an example of your bad influence.â She bit her lip, trying to stop a smirk. âThink she might of been worried of losing me to you.â
George laughed again. âOh, I canât believe her. Thatâs cheating, I tell you. Complete treason!â
Kassie rolled her eyes. âLike a couple of Four Years would have wanted to hung around a First Year. I mean, come on, really.â
He shrugged. âGuess youâll never know nowâŠâ The corners of his lips twitched. âItâs really endearing to know how obsessed youâve been with me right from the start.â
She scoffed at him and shoved his shoulder, only to have her wrist captured by him and then pulled forward. âGeorge!â she squeaked, being ensnared by strong arms and tickling fingers next. Laughter erupted in the form of giggles, coming from both parties. It wasnât until their lips met, that the audible mirth died down.
Kassie sighed softly against him, smiling happily when they pulled apart.
