Instead of having Pierce try to come between Deckerstar as Chloe's love interest, his immortality and consequential loss of a vast number of loved ones could've been used to have Lucifer reflect on the possibility of losing Chloe to her mortality. Cause if the writers truly wanted to keep Deckerstar from happening just a little longer, they could've found a much more meaningful, non-character-assassinating way to do it.

i think i've seen this film before
As shocking as it may sound, going to the movies is one of Lucifer’s favorite dates, and it is so for two simple reasons: 1. it’s a really good and easy spontaneous date to have, since there is always at least one movie playing at any nearby movie theater (and if the movie sucks… well, let’s just say that it’s really good that it’s dark in there) and 2. his husband always spoils him rotten during his designated dates… and that was one of them – from letting Lucifer pick the movie no matter how much his face may imply that he (sometimes) thinks Lucifer’s pick sucks, to buying Lucifer every single overpriced sweet snack the theater offers, and to them sharing a drink and chatting and laughing as they wait for the movie to start.

Lucifer and Marcus enjoy a spontaneous date at the movies where they end up watching an eerily familiar romcom.
