As an artist I enjoy creating things a lot more when remembering that no one owes me their time as an audience; as a consumer I'm way less likely to have fun and engage with stuff if it feels like an obligation; not getting hung up on how people are interacting with your posts is a win/win situation!

I love your knitted tapestries! What inspired you to start doing machine knitting?

Short answer: I got impatient with hand knitting lol.
Longer answer: I was an OBSESSIVE hand knitter for like a year and quickly realized being a drawer + a knitter = wrist bones being ground to dust 200x faster :(
But I had so many ideas!!!! I wanna make a million designer sweaters!!! I wanna do knitted art pieces (i love seeing student fiber art)!!! I wanna be able to finish christmas gifts in less than 8,000 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m foiled by these puny human wrists!!!!
I started looking into different home knitting machines, and figured a flatbed electronic machine would be best for my interests. BUT, machines are many many dollars, and the learning curve is REAL steep. so i held off on getting one until 1) funds, obvs and 2) i was sure it would be something i could dedicate serious time into learning and actually using (and generating income! monetizing a hobby is........ a big decision)
Anyway that’s how I got in this rabbit hole. Thanks for asking this question so I can wax poetic about machine knitting! It’s also really nice to know people enjoy the tapestries; i was so unsure they’d even be a thing people would want in their home, haha.
Cassie/Aftran for the ship game? :O
A: I love it!Aftran, as a character, is one of the most important pieces of Animorphs, period, but she is absolutely critical to Cassie’s development as a person. Because of Aftran, Cassie began to sympathize with the Yeerks as individual people, and even by the end of the war, she was the only Animorph, besides MAYBE Tobias, who considered them people. She allowed Aftran to share her brain with full consent for a couple days in #29.
I also really like to headcanon that Aftran is about the same age as the other kids, because that would mean she was probably born on a pool ship or an Earth-based pool, totally indoctrinated. The other side of the coin to Ax, if you will, who was indoctrinated from childhood by the Andalites. I just think it’s really thematic with the rest of the series to have a child from the other side push through the brainwashing and the rhetoric of the Empire and join the resistance. It’s beautiful, and Cassie obviously thinks so too.
Aftran is SO important to who Cassie is and the role she serves in the story, maybe more than any other character. Shipping them is so natural.
And obviously, there’s probably no one who follows me who doesn’t follow @c-rowlesdraws, but if you like Aftran, you should definitely follow her!
And if you love Cassie/Aftran and haven’t read Tell Me I’m Okay by @lilacsolanum, you need to go do that asap.
I like those environment studies a lot! Were they inspired by anything/anywhere in particular?

I was trying to work out some details of my d&d character’s backstory, and also wanted to practice drawing environments, so they’re kind of like.. a couple of snapshots/vignettes from his past I guess? That’s what I had in mind when I was looking for reference photos, at least. The photos I referenced are this and this (the first one is of mount cheam in canada, and I couldn’t find an original source for the interior shot)
