i’m gonna talk specifically about her relationships right now but i will definitely talk more about her actual personality and life later in other posts

she lives with her mom on the west side of tulsa but they’re more on the outer edge. they have a farmhouse with a ranch and fields. they have 3 horses (but only one of them is specifically annie’s and it is her baby) (her name is butterscotch, scotch for short). they also have chickens and dogs (im also thinking maybe a cow or two)

she has an older brother and he SUCKS. he’s the worst. the people in her life bond over hating her brother. he’s like borderline abusive, both verbally and physically. he’d never like actually hit her but he definitely like throws shit and punches holes in walls. BUT he’s away at college so it’s fine cause he barely ever comes home

her dad is dead (probably like a year before canon events) and her mom and her are dealing with grief and also not grieving because her dad also sucked and definitely enabled her brother’s behavior (very “boys will be boys, deal with it” energy) and like other people in tulsa keep telling her how great of a man her dad was and she’s really struggling with guilt of not really caring that her dad is gone

she’s dating victor’s soc boy, who i call ryan and they have a very cute relationship. he’s very tough, city boy but he becomes such a country boy as soon as he’s with her. she taught him how to ride horses because he asked her too because he wanted to understand why she loved it so much (he’s not very good but he loves doing it cause it makes her happy, even if her and scotch have to slow way down to keep him on his horse). he has a pair of cowboy boots he wears when he’s helping her out on the ranch and he helps with the animals , even though he’s nowhere near as good with them as she is. their biggest issue is that ryan tends to get involved in fights with the other soc boys, which she really doesn’t like but he also doesn’t like fighting and only does it cause of the pressure he feels from the guys.

annie and soda are BESTIES. she had a crush on him as a child in the way that he was cute so she like idolized him and then when they actually met and became friends, she had the realization of ‘wait he’s literally just a guy why did i think you were so cool’ and got over that very quickly but they’re besties. soda can’t compete in the rodeos anymore because of his knee injury but he can still do basic horseback stuff so she lets him come over and ride her horses and they go on horseback rides together. she also goes to visit him at the dx and they talk about all things horses. soda and ryan also have an odd relationship where ryan respects soda and soda respects ryan and so they like nod and acknowledge each other when they see each other and sometimes ryan stops by the dx and they talk about cars but don’t call them friends because they WILL deny it (but then they’re running to each other the second annie does something stupid to tease her) (ryan also likes cars but he does not know as much about them as steve and soda so sometimes he’ll just show up at the dx and be like “hey, i have a question” and then ask about a car and then after getting an answer, he’s just like “okay thanks” and leaves and it’s so awkward and funny and annie loves when her 3 boys get along)

annie and steve are also besties. at first he HATED when she would come into the dx because her and soda would just go on and on and on about horses forever and then steve has to just sit there and listen to it forever (he tends to block his ears and go ‘la la la la la’ until they stop or pretend to smash his head against his toolbox repeatedly). but then she comes in one day when soda’s not in cause she needs steve to take a look at her car and she asks him a question about what he’s doing and just lets him go on and on about it, the same way she does with soda about horses. and he realizes that she’s actually listening and trying to understand what he’s talking about and actually interested and he realizes that he actually likes having her around.

there was one night where ryan was out of town and so bob promised ryan that he would “keep on eye on her” for him so annie is at the drive in and steve comes over to sit with her cause she’s by herself and she has to be like “hey, you can’t sit with me, bob’s watching over me, he’ll get mad if he sees us hanging out” and so steve is like “don’t worry, i won’t get you in trouble” and so annie assumes that means he’ll leave but instead he just pretends to be bothering her so that bob will think she didn’t want him there (this also means she’s trying her hardest not to laugh at everything he says while he tries his hardest to make her laugh)

steve is also the first person she opens up to about her brother being abusive (i have a blurb written about this where they get to have a really cute heart to heart because steve can relate because of his dad and she’s begging him not to tell soda or ryan and he’s like ‘fine but the second anything else happens, im telling both of them’)
