🌟: which Discworld novel do you think is funniest?

Good lord. Look, of course they are all hilarious, and superficially of course I would say something like Wyrd Sisters or Men at Arms or Jingo or anything where Moist gets to exist, but—bear with me here—I actually think Night Watch is hilarious for the same reasons that make it among the darkest of the novels. It’s that fine line between comedy and horror again. It would have been so easy for it to be your good old obligatory Grimdark Addition to the series, but Pterry put his foot down and did it his way, telling us: yes, the world is full of real unrelenting horrors, the worst of which is the banality of evil, but here are the absurdities of it, and here is where the light comes in.

For example, there is a rift in space-time with existential consequences, but rather than get too bogged down in the mechanics of it, all we are given for an explanation (mostly) is a tableaux of empty bottles and used condoms and a bunch of shrugging time monks. Quantum, innit. Got a despotic, murderous regime to get rid of? Your plan may be good, but his own fear of a comeuppance will get your target first, and there will be no time for cake. Also, this comeuppance is just a kid who is doomed to a certain teenage crush hanging over his head for the next thirty years who just really wants to get a date discussing police station construction plans. And on a related note, love never is free. Why should it be? And can it ever be reasonably priced? What is a reasonable price for love indeed?

Just one? I have a soft spot for Mort and the early Watch novels. Feet of Clay. The Fifth Elephant has my favourite ever section—the prison break-to-hunt. Night Watch, obligatory. Monstrous Regiment. I have recently discovered the marvel that is Unseen Academicals.

Hadestown (as always sdfjksdfkdj) also lately I’ve been going through a big clothes-buying phase so I’ve been getting rly excited by new clothes because most of my life I’ve never been able to wear anything that actually fit my style, so I finally am able to really explore different clothes and try to find things that I feel happy and cool in

I’m currently proud of the progress I’ve been making with my mental health in therapy, and I feel optimistic that I’ll get better and live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life!!

PERSEPHONE IS MY FAVORITE bc she’s hot and I’m gay, and also her voice is amazing, but I just love characters who are outwardly fun and flamboyant when inside they’re broken and suffering (but yeah mostly I’m just rly gay for Amber Gray)

🎥 do you have any favorite scenes from your hyperfixation?

I love when Hades makes his entrance during “Way Down Hadestown” and he opens his mouth and the audience hears his booming bass for the first time and everyone loses their damn minds and starts cheering dsfdsdsfs 

I also love “Way Down Hadestown” in general bc it’s supposed to be reminiscent of a a New Orleans jazz funeral with Persephone essentially participating in her own funeral

THE TRANSITION BETWEEN “EPIC II” AND “CHANT”

I love all of the little interactions between Persephone and Eurydice during “Livin’ It Up On Top” like with Persephone encouraging Eurydice to open up and join everyone else dancing and celebrating

uhhh basically all of Act I gives me chills, especially the “Hey, Little Songbird”/”When The Chips Are Down”/”Wait For Me” sequence
