Are you sure people are only getting deleted for pap pics? Have there been any recent cases with people getting terminated for using event pictures or photoshoots? God I'm so paranoid people are going to start getting terminated over GIFFING too with how bad this bullshit has gotten.

i don’t know if that will change, but i have a sinking feeling event photos are next. i’ve been on here so long i remember years ago when they were really trying to make this site into one that just churned out original content even though no one would know what this site was without those individuals who giffed, and now it seems that they’re really trying to make it so in literally the worst way possible.

I've seen misinformation spreading about customized themes, so let's set the record straight.
The part of the guidelines people are now referring to is this:
This has been in the terms of service for years now, and tumblr does not enforce it. You will not be terminated for using a customized theme. Early on before people started making their own themes, bloggers were using third party sites because the themes in tumblr's theme garden were...atrocious, to put it mildly. It's more of a protection of liability from them in the event that we used a non tumblr theme and caught a virus or were phished.

a photo agency called backgrid started using a third party site called okularity as a reverse google image search of sorts to go after users who posted paprazzi photos (not just on the street but pap set photos as well) taken by their photographers, and other blogs have been terminated because of event photos and photoshoots for copyright infringement as well.
you can use fan photos and ones posted by celebs on their social media accounts, and if you make a graphic just make sure the isolated image has been manipulated enough so it’s not flagged.
