After 8 days in wonderful Meghalaya, we were on our way to Kaziranga in the neighbouring state of Assam. I had never been to Kaziranga. I had never seen a rhino. As we got closer to our hotel, Aranya, we saw this huge expanse of grassland to the left of the highway. The highway is impressive, it’ll be even more impressive when it’s complete. So we pulled over to the side and started looking at this rhino through a pair of binoculars. Never forget to carry a pair of binoculars. Many of us were seeing a rhino for the first time, so we were excited even though the rhino was a great distance away. The next morning, we saw lots of rhinos from close quarters. Rhinos were everywhere, but I have read recent reports that there was heavy poaching going on during that time. This was the first time that I was using the @nikonusa 200-500mm lens. The lips of the rhino in this picture look very red. I remember saying that it’s chewing on the kind of betel leaf that all of Meghalaya is addicted to. You can actually see what it’s eating. In December, the sun sets at about 4:30 in evening. The golden light subsides after 4 o’clock. #wildlifephotograph, #photographybeginner, #wildlifephotographeroftheyear, #wildlifephotographyoftheyear, #wildlifephotographybird, #wildlifephotographs, #photographeroftheday, #wildlifepictures, #wildlifeig, #wildlifeseekers, #wildlifephotographic, #kaziranga, #wildlifephotographic, #wildlifephotographer (at Kaziranga National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWLkIWCsFgz/?utm_medium=tumblr
