Slot Canyons and Grand Canyons
Many of you remember a stunning wedding I was part of back in April.
Well, the first day there, I rented a car and drove out. Thereās a ton of destinations in Vegas. We have the Valley of Fire,Ā Spring Mountains,Ā Lamoille Canyon,Ā Cathedral Gorge, and of course ā the biggest of them all, the Grand Canyon (And nearby slot canyons.)
To see the Gallery, including many photos that are not in this post, click here.
Ā Ā This was my aim. Thereās so many places to take photos of. I could be in Vegas for three weeks and still have beautiful places left to photograph. Iām actually planning to go back in April and hit up a few more destinations. So we rented a car, and head right out into the desert.
Ā Ā To be honest, itās a pretty easy drive. Not many turns. You just kinda go straight and try not to pass out drooling taking in the unbelievable scenery. Going through these photos, I can hardly believe it was over six months ago I was there. Iāve left these photos alone for too long ā itās time to share them with the world!
Ā Ā For those of you wondering why Iāve got so many āboringā photos up, I come from BC. Itās rocky. Thereās a ton of mountains. The desert is really something new to me.
Ā Ā Ā We even found some old houses with a water tower erected. Once we got out into the actual desert, things became a little more rocky. I donāt envy those poor folks that had to make roads in this hard environment.
Ā Slot canyons were amazing. Check out the full gallery for more photos. Really stunning, just took my breathe away.
Ā Ā Ā After about a one hour walk, I found myself near the end. Wind whistled through the canyon, as everything I owned became logged with sand. Iām not kidding. The sand was so bad, that two showers later, I was still covered in the stuff. It was coming out of my hair, under my fingernails, imbedded in my skin. My camera bag, memory cards, everything had to be brushed off over and over again. Was it worth it? Of course.
Ā Ā We finished up around 3pm and started to drive back to Vegas. We decided on a different route, to go by the Grand Canyon on the way home.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The grand canyon isnāt short ā itās long. Itās miles and miles long. It probably took us over an hour to drive the length of this insane canyon. I donāt use that word lightly. Itās like nothing Iāve ever seen before.
Ā We stopped so many times to take photos that a 3 hour drive turned into a six hour drive.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā But it was every kind of perfect, it was every kind of breathtaking.
It will truly remain in my mind as one of the best days of my life. Driving on that old road, taking photos, and witnessing some of the most beautiful scenes that Iām lucky enough to see.
And this is how Iāll leave you. If you enjoyed this, consider following me onĀ instagramĀ orĀ twitter.Ā If youād like to see more, consider liking my page on facebook, or adding me on google plus! Or heck, send out an inquiry! Iām shooting engagements and family photos right now. See you in a couple days!
