Hello everyone, I hope what I'm about to share will be useful to couples or solo travellers who are planning to go to the Philippines. BALIKBAYAN VISA. The balikbayan privilege is extended to former Philippine citizens, the foreign spouse and the foreign minor unmarried children of Philippine citizens. The former Philippine citizen shall declare before a Philippine Immigration Officer at the port of entry that he/she is availing of the balikbayan privilege and shall present his/her valid passport in addition to any of the following documents: 1. Cancelled Philippine passport; 2. Birth certificate; 3. naturalisation papers to show former Philippine citizenship; or 4. Certification from the adopted country. The accompanying foreign spouse and foreign minor unmarried children of Filipinos and former Filipino citizens shall declare before a Philippine Immigration Officer at the port of entry that he/she is accompanied by a Filipino or former Filipino spouse or parent and that he/she is availing of the balikbayan privilege, and shall present his/her valid passport in addition to the following: 1. Foreign spouse: Valid passport and Marriage certificate 2. Foreign Minor unmarried children: Birth certificate 3. Adopted children: Adoption papers For solo travellers, you have the right to stay in the Philippines for 21 days. You need to present a valid return ticket or any ticket stating that you intend to leave the Philippines before 21 days. This 21-day Tourist visa will be stamped in your passport at the Philippine airport immigration upon arrival. Well, for my Irish husband he was allowed to stay for 21 days, I think it's different for other nationalities. What my husband did, since we were not yet married at the time when we came to the Philippines, he bought a ticket going to Hong Kong just to say that he intend to leave before the 21 day period. TOURIST VISA You can apply Philippine Tourist visa at the Philippine Embassy in your country. TOURIST VISA EXTENSION Extending your stay in the Philippines is easy. All you need is money, passport, ACR I-Card, and a lot of patience. On our second week, my Mum accompanied us at the Bureau of Immigration in Intramuros Manila to extend my husband's stay, since we need more time to complete the requirements for our wedding. It was easy and very direct. Fill in the application form, photocopy the applicant's passport, ACR I-Card, his last arrival, and pay! No questions, no interviews. You can extend your visa for 30 or 59 days. Thereafter, you do the same before your 59-day period expires. Best to renew before the 28th day to avoid problems at the immigration. You can extend your visa with a total of 16 months of stay in the country. Then you are required to apply for an Alien Registration Card (ACR I-CARD) which is valid for 1 year if you are on a Tourist visa. The Philippine ACR I-card is an identification card issued by the Philippines Bureau of Immigration for foreigners from other countries staying here in the Philippines. The card has a front side which displays your photo, your full name, your home country, birthdate, place of birth, visa type, visa issue date, visa status, and an electronic chip embedded into the card containing all your relevant information. On the back side is printed your sex, height, weight, blood type, address, fingerprint, and the ACR I-card’s issue date and expiration date. It's a valid I.D. and can be used when applying for a bank account in the Philippines. And every year, between January-February all registered aliens and ACR I-Card holders except Temporary Visitor’s Visa holders or Tourist Visa holders should report to the Bureau of Immigration in Manila.
