The Avery Family
History
Tom Riddle Jr met Avery Sr late into his 3rd year at Hogwarts, Avery’s friendship with Tom was one of the main reasons he would be one of the first Death Eaters.
Originally Avery Sr. acted as a self-appointed bodyguard. However due to extenuating circumstances he would not rejoin the Death Eaters during the first wizard war, offering his son as tribute instead.
Upon his return from Albania the Avery family was the first he sought to regain contact with.
His relationship with their family allowed his to build contacts within pure-blood society, which would later help finance his war effort.
Relationships:
Despite their self-proclaimed “friendship” during their time at Hogwarts. With Avery maintaining strict loyalty to the cause rather than Tom, and Tom remaining loyal to himself, their relationship would become symbiotic in nature.
Tom would never develop a large amount of trust for Avery Jr.
His lack of trust and respect for him was shown in his distrust of the information he received from Avery Jr and placing him at a lower ranking missions and positions, despite him being part of the inner circle.
Despite their mutual dislike towards each other Avery Jr continued to participate in the many Death Eater related atrocities, because torturing and killing those beneath him in Voldemorts name allowed Avery Jr to indulge his own fantasies and suppress any inklings of remorse he may have otherwise felt.
Misc:
Avery Jr. was an above average strategist who used calculus for formations.
He was head of tracking and snatching ( a low position given his place within the inner circle. )
He was briefly trained by Tom in dark arts, undetectable charms, and potions.
He was the first to join the second generation of Voldemort’s followers, but the last to receive the dark mark.
