Philippe x Henriette/Philiette/OTP: You did the best you could
I know thereās a lot of fall out between them, and that theyāre romantically entangled with other people who they love more than each other, but itās not like they donāt love each other. Sometimes they can both be petty or insensitive, but thereās a genuine connection between them (thatās present as the episodes go by), and it feels like sometimes theyāre trying to make it work, or did try at some point but just gave up. Itās at least known that they care for one another, and show it in their own way. Henriette is suspicious of Chevalier because heās a snake (in the actressā own words), and she feels as if heās going to end up harming Phillipe or using him (which he often times does). He int turn, cares for her well-being, as he is not too happy that she has an open affair with his brother or that he might put her life at risk in England, both of which he constantly shoves in Louisā face.
I just really love those honest, heart-to-heart moments between them and you can see theyāre TRYING but itās just not quite there, and I really wish they had taken them further and strengthened their relationship. But I guess thatās what fanfics for? I really want to make a tag for them.
Louis x Maria Theresa/Maris/OTP: Warmth & grace
These two share like THREE scenes together LOL. Itās so few (to the point where I couldnāt even find a gif of the queen u Au ), but I really love the queen. I love her presence and her ācalm before the stormā nature. She keeps quiet when she needs to, but sheās always watching and very keen on what it happening in court. I really want to see her more in season 2. I think while Louis may not love her, he does have a sense of respect for her; he doesnāt undermine her, and she in turn is very loyal to him as a monarch. You can tell sheās trying to connect with him (BUT HIS CHEATINā NO GUDā STUBBORN ASS--/exhale/) and make a sort of bond between them, and I do hope they touch on that in the second season, though I know sheās supposed to be a tragic figure. I just think if Louis would get on board, they could be a power couple like no other. I just donāt quite like Louis with any of his mistresses tbh.
Fabien x Beatrice/Fatrice/OTP: Love potion
OK I KNOW other people ship this one, but I do want to talk about them anyways. I just ADORE the idea of these two. These lovers who were both cruel creatures, who will do short of nothing for the things they believe in. I especially like the scene where he hides the gun and she hides the knife behind their backs, and thereās this tension of not knowing if theyāre going to try to kill each other. I was REALLY hoping that she would last longer, and that back and forth would last longer. I know she played Fabian while he really loved her, but it was still such an amazing dynamic.
