Ryuji looks up and grins widely. "Dude! There's no way you didn't put that there", he says but he's laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. "Or did you? Shit, I don't know but do you wanna?" Ryuji definitely wants to but he'll let Akira do the first move.
leave a mistletoe kiss! || @phantasmxgora || fuck it why not! accepting
Desperate times call for desperate measures- or that’s at least what Ann said. Akira and Ryuji have been dancing around each other for ages now, in a constant limbo of will-they-won’t-they for tipping into the more romantic side of things. She assured Akira that Ryuji tooootally has feelings and likes him back and all that jazz, but it still doesn’t feel quite like it can be true.
And that is how he ends up with a shameful amount of mistletoe hung in his room before Ryuji comes over to play games.Â
It’s stupidly obvious, but then again Akira feels like he’s been stupidly obvious with his best friend many times and it doesn’t seem to catch hardly at all. But, at least Ryuji doesn’t seem put off by the idea that Akira hung up mistletoe just for them, his smile is as wide as ever.Â
Words escape him, so he simply nods a few times before realizing that Ryuji is waiting for him to move first. Shit. Oh God. Deep breath, Akira tells himself. It’s just a kiss with the boy he’s had feelings for since the day they met and- oh god, he is so, so screwed.
But the longer he sits there frozen, he’s going to miss his window of opportunity. Now or never, he supposes. He leans in, slow in case Ryuji was not serious, giving a buffer for him to back away or call it off. Then, his hand comes up to rest just beneath the boy’s chin to tilt it up for a better angle. One more pause.
Well, Ryuji hasn’t stopped him yet.
Without any further fanfare, he closes the gap and capture’s Ryuji’s lips in a soft, but lingering kiss. He doesn’t want to seem like he’s trying to get it over with, or that it’s a gag, but he keeps the careful balance that if Ryuji didn’t want want to be something more, it could feasibly just be a really good kiss between friends.Â
After he pulls away, Akira needs a second, blinking a few times to recenter himself. “Merry Christmas, Ryuji.”
