The Flight of the Navigator premiered on August 1, 1986. In the movie, David Freeman (Joey Cramer) disappeared on July 4, 1978. He suddenly appeared in 1986, still a 12-year-old boy. The mystery of his disappearance and his lack of aging turned out to be tied to the discovery of a UFO that he was connected to. While the voice of the computer Max was listed as Paul Mall, in reality, it was Pee Wee Herman actor Paul Reubens. Early CGI was used to create the chrome appearance on the spaceship.
