As PG&E cut power to thousands in the Bay Area, scores of residents with disabilities and medical needs organized a grassroots safety net to fill the gap.
"I've been preparing in case I lost electricity, which I need for multiple medical things, and collaborating with other folks around trying to have contingency plans and making sure people know that I do have power now for anyone who needs it."
In October, several PG&E blackouts left people in the dark and without power for their medical devices, hot water, refrigerators and more. Some people have been left in the cold, literally. Here are some of their stories.
