when i arrived at my new hostel i met jason, he was so sweet and took me to his favorite spot in puerto. we had juice and dinner and talked about both his book release and his plans to buy property in the jungle. jason and i bonded over ayahuaca talks and self sustainable living. the next morning i had breakfast in the beautiful outdoor kitchen and met an amazing girl named Ampie. we hit it off almost immediately, shes from spain origionally but lived in peru a few years back and wanted to visit some friends as well as visit some tourists sites she ddent have a chance to while living here. as of now she lives in germany right close to the amsterdam border so of course we had some talks about psychedelics. she will be living in europe for awile because of work so im hoping we reconnect out there sometime in the future. ampie and i both desperately needed to do some laundry so we found the laundry service together then walked to the local market. the market is outdoors and pretty big. we tried some fruit that you can only get locally here (no idea the name, but tasted like juicy pumpkin, i loved it, and kept the seed) we also tried some juices you can only get here as well made of star fruit which i had eaten as a fruit before but tastes much different as a juice. after lunch and our taste testing, we went back to the hostel and quickly decided to move on and the butterfly sanctuary, so we hoped in a tuk yuk and off we went. the place was beautiful and i made a butterfly friend right away, it was blue and just loved me i put him down on a flower at the end of the tour and the little guy found me again, they must love the taste of Canadian girl. the tuk tuk driver waited for us to finish up because he was having a bad day and was enjoying his time with us, he offered to take us for a two hour tour to some off the map places for 27 soles which is about 11 dollars Canadian. of course we agreed. he first took us to the river where we seen all guys hauling in bananas, papayas, and plantains in by boat. the worker were very friendly and lets us hop aboard and take some pictures, the place was beautiful. we anted to go swimming so the driver told us of a pool and we went and grabbed our bathing suits. the driver wanted to grab gas and while we passed three or so stations and got farther from town we got a little nervous (also we were on the hwy and night was getting closer) ampie and i both decided to just trust the experience and trust the driver. thank god we did cause the pool was ginormous and we had it all to ourselves since its winter here there wasent many people out that way. we swam for about an hour or so, watched the sunset, the moon rise, venus shine and the stars appear. the night turned out amazing.
