how to add fanmade breedfiles to your petz game
or in other words, get cool new petz species!
couldn’t find a quick tutorial on tumblr so wanted to make one! i hope this helps
1. navigate your way to the petz files and folders. if you don’t know where that is, right click on the petz shortcut and press open file location. you should see these folders:
2. open the Resource folder
3. download the petz breed files that you would like. it should be avaliable in .dog or .cat file types. i will be downloading a parrot from petzzoo2 (link)
you should see a file called something like Parrot.dog or Parrot.cat.
4. make sure your game is closed! drag this downloaded file into the Dogz folder or the Catz folder depending on the filetype. (sometimes there will be extra files such as sound effects or textures, these files still get dumped in the same place as the breedfile)
here’s what the file will look like next to everything else.
(note: it’s best to not delete the original breedfiles the game came with because new breedfiles can rely on certain ones being there)
5. open your Petz game up! go to the Adoption Center
6. click Pick A Pet and find your new breed from the list
7. adopt and play!
