but this morning, it is an entirely different look that passes across the room, one of concern and worry. one thatâs accompanied by whispers covered by hands slipping up and down the top table. a tension in the room as more stragglers emerge out of their stupor and into the hall. one only broken when grace tuft, daughter of thomasin tuft, passes the threshold â professors hurrying the length of the hall to whisk her from the room.

and so the whispers start, as a few rub the sleep from their eyes and turn them to the morningâs papers;Â the tufts are dead. all of them wiped out in a night, the skull and serpent left hanging over their aberystwyth home. all of them but grace, kept safe by hogwarts grounds. too young to be left with a legacy like that, too young to plan that many funerals, too young to be the last left standing. but still she stands. alone.

a book here, a book there. strange things have been happening in the library of late but who has time to worry about odd happenings in an even odder castle when some professor got the bright idea to give everyone mock exams this year. random books would vanish at first, before randomly getting found in the restricted section. it was late february then, and now itâs mid march and things are getting decidedly more sinister. almost as if the perpetrator had learned just how to achieve their aims, itâs been books all on a similar topic that have been sequestered away of late. books on muggles and muggleborns. few have noticed of late save one charity burbage, but with everyone's minds on the upcoming mock exams whoâll take note and who will care? well, besides the muggle studies students.

   it happened on thursday, that most unassuming of days. but from the bright rays of the sunrise, that brought the news of charlotte the kneazleâs litter being born at last, to the long awaited visit that came that cold night â this was not a normal thursday.
   nights can be cold in scotland, any student even a first year a week off the train could tell you that. the summer just as much as the winter; and this frosty february night was no warm june evening. but that didnât stop them. didnât stop the students that came; some one by one, others in a gaggle, but all on the same pilgrimage. all trekking into the forbidden forest.
   itâd been rumoured for weeks but it never really seemed quite real till now. all gathered in a clearing, just outside of the hogwarts boundary, lit by wandlight and shrouded by shadows. but despite the mystery inherent to the situation a bright âso how are we allâ broke the ice.
   mina shafiq had always been a charismatic girl in her years at hogwarts and only two years out it was no surprise she was much the same. singing the praises of the students gathered before her and of the great student society they were now the shepherds of, her intentions were very clear. she was here, the first of a few visitors who would be swinging by, to encourage everyone to take the logical next step; to take the mark.
   what followed was a veritable whoâs who of minor death eaters, with a few students parents even making a surprise appearance. and in two short hours it was all over. farewells fond and otherwise being said when a final task was issued. it was time to get political.
   it was no news to anyone that the death eaters had a horse in the upcoming election for chief warlock but it was slightly more surprising that the venit tempestas were being asked to play their part in trying to secure his victory. but not entirely, after all some of those gathered here would be able to vote... and so would their peers.
   but it was not to be an entirely peaceful night as the mornings daily prophet would proclaim. so many death eaters in once place? it seemed almost inevitable that something would happen. and happen it did. a small village in the highlands (not to far from hogwarts if you were to look at a map) awoke to devastation, two families dead. dead without reason, dead without a cause. thatâs what the muggle police was saying. but every wix knew different.
the death eaters have visited hogwarts! or rather just outside the boundary of the grounds. here for three things. to encourage those in the venit tempestas who are not death eaters to enlist, to encourage them to recruit more students into the venit tempestas, and to start a student lead election campaign.
for characters in the venit tempestas, your character would most likely have been in attendance or at the very least is now aware of what was spoken about.
other characters mightâve heard the rumours about the visit but are unaware of what happened.
Hiding in the shadows doesn't work anymore, not when the darkness isn't afraid of coming into the light. The benefits of being hidden no longer outweigh that of presenting an open opposition. But the danger only grows.Â
She created For the Light to build opposition, to fight against tyranny and prejudice and it was kept a secret to protect its members. But secrecy is no longer serving them as they rise like a phoenix from the ashes of past destruction and into the light, serving their namesake and blinding those who would shield their eyes. Now For the Light is known by everyone in the castle and recruitment is at its highest. Some members choose to remain secret but the group will no longer remain in the shadows.

As sensationalist as always The Daily Prophet has taken the attack on Hogsmeade and ran with it, much as it has with previous attacks. But something is different this time, there is an under layer of accusations in each word printed, public opinion might not be changing yet but the Prophet is doing itâs best to stoke those embers into a fire. Something is coming, there are larger forces at play than those your everywix can see, invisible hands setting up a chess board; and now the first move has been made.

                 ... and it makes the evening paper ...
RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE ATTACKED AT PRESS CONFERENCE: WHO IS BEHIND THE FIENDFYRE PHOENIX?
It is a campaign that rarely draws the publicâs attention, a post that rarely goes contested but the 1977 contest for Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot is surely one for the history books. Not only is the challenger the young political upstart, Rodophus Lestrange, current holder of the Lestrange hereditary seat, and the defender, nonagenarian and long term political staple Albus Dumbledore. But when Lestrange held a press conference earlier today confirming his intentions to run he was attacked in a cowardly attempt at intimidation.Â
Lestrange had just began to vacate the stage after an impassioned speech, railing against âthe epitome of the ineffective establishmentâ full of criticises towards the wizard whose job he wished to take, a man who Lestrange describes as âwith his fingers in too many pies for him to take responsibility for our nations children, our futureâ , when a spout of flames emerged from the gathered crowd, hurtling straight for the just emptied podium. No ordinary fire, this instead was an assault of fiendfyre. Fiendfyre that took the shape of a phoenix. All where evacuated to safety and in the confusion of stopping the accursed flames present aurors were unable to apprehend the culprit. Reading an official statement from the ministry this afternoon, Auror Miriam Nettles said âThe DoMLE are able to say that no serious injuries were sustained in the appalling attack earlier today and that they are following all possible leads to apprehend the culprit or culprit responsible for the atrocity,â.
It remains all this humble reporter can do but remind the public just who connected with todayâs events is in possession of a phoenix.

                STUDENT FOUND DEAD AT HOGWARTS
MINISTER CLAIMS INVESTIGATIONÂ IS PROGRESSING DESPITE NO ARRESTS
               TWO WEEKS ON AND STILL NO ARREST: ARE OUR CHILDREN SAFE?
The Daily Prophet been full of little else for weeks, constant speculation about what exactly happened in the forbidden forest on all hallows eve of all nights. But one morning the owls fly in bearing different news.
   SHAKE UP AT THE MINISTRY: JASPER AUBREY SACKED
Tired of inaction in the auror department Minister of Magic, Harold Minchum, has announced a shake up of several key roles in the upper echelons of the Ministry but one announcement is on everyone's lips Jasper Aubrey, Head of the Auror Department and Bertam Aubreyâs father has been removed from his post.
Itâs been reported that one Senior Auror, Alastor Moody, considered by many of his peers to be the best of their number, is the top contender for the job as well as the peopleâs favourite. Moody himself issued no comment on the matter quoting only âConstant Vigilance!â and attempting to hex a reporter until credentials where shown when asked this morning. One thing is clear though, a new Senior Auror will be appointed in the coming weeks with Miriam Nettles a shoo-in for the job.
Another shock revelation this morning is the announcement that Ambrose Macnair, longtime Head of the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures is to take early retirement within the next few weeks as soon as his replacement is able to take the job. One has to wonder if this is a decision Macnair has taken of his own volition or if he is being encouraged to do so. Dharmendra Patil is set to return from India where heâs served as Ambassador these past five years to take up Macnairâs now vacant post. It seems further scrutiny is being placed on Macnairâs department as one Nicholas Bilshen, once Head of the Beast Division, is set to follow his bosses footsteps and vacate his office.
Inside sources at the ministry report many names flying around as possible replacements for all these empty jobs but a few are at the top of everyoneâs lists. Eshani Sharma, a name known to few outside her own department is the front runner for the Indian Ambassadorship. Another lesser known name being thrown around this morning is the notoriously press shy Nian Zhen Chang who after three years of dodging interviews about their seat on the International Confederation of Wizards must welcome the change of pace Eshaniâs soon to be empty role in the International Magical Trading Standards body.
But with the current shake-up more closely resembling shuffling a deck of cards than any actual change the public is desperate for new blood. Thankfully a source close to the Minister has let slip that Blair Beamish, a well known public figure but an outsider to politics has been approached about taking on Nian Zhenâs seat one they vacate it. One newcomer whoâs appointment can be confirmed at this time is Anthony Fieldwake, a long time campaigner for harsher legislation on werewolves and other beasts who is being brought in to head up the soon to be leaderless Beast Division.
Albus Dumbledore, in conjunction with Head Auror, Alastor Moody, and the Head of Magical Law Enforcement, Barty Crouch Snr., have announced that the Winter holidays this year have been extended to three weeks starting on the 20th of December in order to allow a full review and improvement of Hogwarts security. In order to better facilitate this, all students have been asked to leave the castle for this holiday; rooms will be provided in the Leaky Cauldron and similar establishments for those unable to go home or make other arrangements.
In short what this means is that every student will be home for the holidays, but donât worry! We have an event planned that weâll announce shortly! For now all we ask is that you fill out this wee form for each character you have and send it in by the 4th of October.
