Every dog lover needs this
When we made the big move, I decided to treat myself to new pillows and bought a big body pillow because my friend J told me how awesome it was to sleep hugging a body pillow (I'm a koala sleeper, I can’t sleep without my arms and legs wrapped around something —that’s what she said.)
Our old mattress had a lot of puppy markings, ie, dog pee, which may or may not have been accidents (once, I saw Tank deliberately pee on my brother’s bed and saw him use his hind paws to kick the pee around so it would spread on the bed).
So, I called my friend S, who works for a bed linen company. I ordered a waterproof mattress protector, two anti-bacterial pillow protectors and a protector for my new body pillow.
S asked me if I wanted an anti-bacterial body pillow protector or a waterproof one, and I said to her:
“Nah, just the anti-bacterial. I mean, what are the odds of Tank peeing on my body pillow?”
Thank God no one bet on those odds because a couple of days ago, I entered the room and saw my roommate Tank sleeping on my side of the bed. I noticed small, damp paw prints on the bed and thought that he had licked his paws again (it’s a habit he picked up from our cat)…until I saw the body pillow.
My precious body pillow (well, Tank’s actually—he claimed it as his bed the moment he first laid eyes on it) had a giant river of dog piddle on it.
I screamed, I growled, but it was too late. In fairness to the non-waterproof pillow protector, it still managed to protect the actual pillow. Only a palm-sized puddle seeped through to the pillow itself.
So, having learned my lesson, I called up S, and after waiting for her to stop laughing hysterically, ordered a full set of waterproof bedding protectors.
If you're roommates with a dog, a constantly hungover partner or a baby, you must go to SM and buy yourself a set of mattress and pillow protectors. Not only is it a bedding savior, it’s a relationship saver, too.
I also love their anti-bacterial line because it keeps you safer from dust mites and other icky mites—it’s a perfect holiday present for the germophobe in your life!
