LA PETITE
Lessons in petit dressing from our intern Pauline
Photography Rosie Browning Every fashion expert knows that the key to being perfectly well dressed is about getting the right fit. If a look doesn’t fit perfectly, no matter how beautiful it is or how much it cost, it will be a disaster. That said, it’s still easier said than done. We all have what we deem to be our own setbacks and flaws. But what makes for an interesting look is how well you can work around, and embrace those flaws. Carine took notice of one such instance with our intern Pauline, who is always wearing the cutest looks despite her not-so-tall stature. She was taken aback by the ease at which she is able to do so. She praised her look from her petite Prada dresses right down to her platform shoes, and as you can imagine, that’s no easy praise to earn! So here you have it: our latest bit of style inspiration featuring a self-styled Pauline. “I have for a long time considered my size as a constraint when considering what to wear,” Pauline says. “Finally, I managed to accept this constraint and play with it. I like to try improbable clothes, strong, suggesting a certain femininity. I very often wear skirts, whatever the length; I do not deprive myself. As for shoes, despite my small size, I like wearing flats. I have a lot of Japanese-inspired shoes, like my Robert Clergeries, that dress up any outfit. It is always a question of suggesting femininity—and revealing it bit by bit.” Above from left to right: Pauline wears dress and shoes Prada, bag Delphine Delafon, top Mary Katrantzou, skirt Kenzo, shoes Robert Clergerie, pullover vintage, skirt Christopher Kane, shoes Robert Clergerie, clutch Olympia le Tan, coat Olympia le Tan, shirt Carven, jeans April 77, shoes Robert Clergerie, bag Céline, top Sacai, skirt home made, shoes Robert Clergerie.
