This Video Makes Me Think About Peter Pan.
The biggest thing about Peter is that he suffers from maternal deprivation. His mother shut the window on him when he was small and thus, he feels abandoned. That is why I think he cried when he couldn't put his shadow on. His shadow, like mommy didn't want him.
When you think about it, a mother should be any child's first experience with femininity and it should be positive femininity. She is caring, kind and helps with their development. While Wendy could never replace Peter's real mother, she was his first real best friend and experience with positive femininity. Wendy is so important to the story and to Peter himself.

I really like this scene because it is cannon that Peter Pan was on her mind. Mrs. Darling in the original story was aware of it too. So to show this, they had Wendy doodle pictures of him. All leading up for her to finally catch him and their first chat that leads to her adventure.
Moral Scapegoat
I think this makes sense. A moral scapegoat is created to try to make a character who is a jerk/creep/b**ch, look good.
Another reason I hate girl boss Wendy 2023. She is a horrible adaptation of Wendy but I guess because Hook came in to the picture she is a hero?? She is still unlikeable who tossed her brothers under the bus because in this adaptation, Wendy is too immature to take responsibility. 😒 Horrible big sister she is.
IMO, she is copying Wendy 2003. The only difference is that 2003 didn't toss parts of who Wendy is out a window. She is still a tough girl who can swing a sword. But I don't think she would be too proud to admit Peter Pan taught her how to swing a sword. ⚔️
Peter and Wendy are supposed to be close to each other. So they should show them both equally not one outshined the other. They both have strength and weaknesses but together they are a cannon, good team.
