The marquee of the Lafayette Theater in Suffern, New York, as seen in September 2016.Ā I received a nice message from another tumblr blogger about this theater, which I was unfamiliar with.Ā It turns out that the Lafayette has a rich history, having opened in the silent era (1924), still actively showing movies in its original big screen configuration, and even featuring a mighty Wurlitzer organ.Ā A peek at the theaterās website reveals a classic movies series, its showings preceded by 30-minute organ recitals.Ā Pretty fabulous.
As for the photo above, it relates to a local girl who was appearing on a TV show, some kind of competition.Ā I imagine the theater was screening the show for the hometown folks.Ā Since my own daughterās name is Grace, I had to snag the pic & share with her.Ā Photo credit: Peter Carr for the Journal-News.

Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, lied to special counsel Robert Mueller, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
Mueller needs to make an example of Manafort ā by seeking the maximum sentence on each conviction.Ā #LawAndOrder
Never forget:
Manafort was working with former Russian GRU Intelligence OfficerĀ KonstantinĀ Kilimnik while he was Trumpās Campaign Manager
Manafort continued working with the Russians while he wasĀ āco-operatingā with the Mueller investigation. Including former Russian intelligence officer Victor Boyarkin on behalf of Russian Oligarch Oleg Deripaska
Manafort was working with Trumpās lawyers including Rudy Giuliani while he was āco-operatingā with the Mueller investigation
Manafort is still bound by what he agreed to in the plea, so he will not be able to retract his guilty pleas. But the finding frees Mueller's office from its contractual obligations in the plea, like asking for a reduced sentence for him because of his cooperation.
Mueller spokesman Peter Carr declined to comment.
Manafort's lawyers have maintained that he did not intentionally lie.Ā š
Another Republican gets called out by a strong woman, Judge Amy Berman Jackson.
Jackson's ruling is another stunning turn in Mueller's efforts to uncover Russian interference in the 2016 election, as the first man the special counsel indicted then pursued as a potential cooperator for a year sees the end of any benefits he tried to gain through a guilty plea.
Manafort was convicted of various financial crimes in August, and then cut the deal to plead guilty to two charges of conspiracy and witness tampering in September.
In all, Jackson determined Manafort intentionally lied about $125,000 he received for the legal bills, about another unnamed Justice Department criminal investigation and about his interactions with his longtime Russian associate Konstantin Kilimnik while he was campaign chairman and later.
Jackson noted twice in her order that two of the topics Paul Manafort lied about, Kilimnik and payments he received for his legal bills were "material to the investigation."

WASHINGTON (AP) ā The Latest on a report that President Donald Trump directed his personal attorney to lie to Congress (all times local): 7:50 p.m. The special counsel's office has issued a rare public statement disputing the accuracy of a news report saying that President Donald Trump told his personal attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress. The statement by Robert Mueller's office on Friday night doesn't cite any specific errors. Spokesman Peter Carr says, "BuzzFeed's description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate."

A Russian computer programmer, Pyotr Levashov, has been arrested in the Spanish city of Barcelona, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Madrid said on Sunday.
It was unclear why Levashov was arrested. The embassy spokesman declined to give details for his arrest, and Spanish police and the interior ministry were not available for comment on Sunday.
Russian television station RT reported that Levashov was arrested under a U.S. international arrest warrant and was suspected of being involved in hacking attacks linked to alleged interference in last year's U.S. election.
