I’m just a tad stressed right now. Like, the gallery opening we had last night went BEAUTIFULLY! Not a hitch! And so I was feeling really, really good. I got to even unwind a little with some fellow illustrators and friends over drinks after- making it a great start to the weekend. Woke up today and took a short walk with coffee and a free donut with the roomie before he went to work. I was going to get to just take today and relax and doodle a bit since I have the apartment to myself today before working at CAKE this weekend. And then we get a note slipped under our door saying we haven’t paid our rent. I talked with our leasing office and it looks like they may have lost our rent check. My roommate is at work ‘til 11 tonight, and I can’t find his checkbook carbon copy of our rent check to prove it if they don’t find it in the supervisor’s lock box later. Nor can I check and see if they withdrew it from his account or not. So I’m basically going to just sort of panic now instead. If they decide to not believe us on it and we can’t find that carbon copy or they never got and cashed the check- we’ll have to pay a butt ton of fines and should this ever happen again-- we could lose our apartment. Like, christ-- we paid our rent a few days EARLY to prevent this EXACT THING from happening. Can’t I just have ONE weekend where I’m not worrying about something? Like, just this once?
