i wrote a poem a long time ago but it was too personal to post it but now I'm properly using this blog I feel like I might as well so here we go please do not judge:
An itch, irritation, or just a feeling that is different to usual
You tell yourself, just one. Just one and then stop.
Just one turns into five, as you try to find the one
Which caused the itch in the first place
Knowing full well that hairs can’t cause itches
And now you have to wear falsies
Or buy another eyebrow pencil
Or come up with excuse after excuse after excuse;
‘My sister shaved my eyebrow in my sleep’
It’s funny really, how that is the only lie you have ever convincingly told,
And yet it is the most absurd, unbelievable thing.
And of course when the exam season hits,
You know it will just get worse.
The anxiety makes the itches itch more
And your mum says ‘just hold on till prom’
And you are reminded of what she said to you all those years ago
Before she realised it was a mental-health linked condition
(Why can’t I stop this?)
‘You had such beautiful eyelashes’
(I want back my old eyelashes)
‘They’ve never looked the same since’
(Why can’t I be pretty again)
‘If you stop, I’ll let you wear makeup’
(But I’ll just lie to you)
Why did it seem as impossible to stop aged eight
I didn’t stop when I was twelve, I just lied to get the makeup
I didn’t want to disappoint you
But I knew that I couldn’t stop
yeah anyways it's not very good and I use the word and far too much it's pissing me off but I'm gonna post it before I delete it
