For some reason Miguel hadn't been able to find Shelley at all the last week at school. He checked up and down the halls, even entering his classes late at times in hopes to get a peek at her but nothing. Suddenly it was the last day before the Christmas break and Miguel was panicking slightly. Sure, he knew where she frequented at time out of school but there was a karate tournament the first week of break and then his mother and sensei wanted to go away as a family the next week so he wouldn't have time to see her, even if she wanted to see him. After all he hadn't seen her even while looking for her so maybe she was ignoring him for all he knew.
As almost all hope was lost Miguel saw Shelley. Quickly he ran down the hall, dodging every other person in hopes of catching her before she disappeared on him. He saw her round a corner and thought it was now or never. Clutching his present for her he continued running until he was behind her. "Sh..." he tried to speak, realizing he was more out of breath than he expected. "Shelley," he tried again, his voice coming out breathlessly. "Merry Christmas," he said, almost doubled over as he held out the present. "I hope... you can... play... records."
