PERRY- “Deacon, what are you doing out here all by yourself? Where is Logan?”

DEACON- “Not sure where she went, but she and I did not finish the night so well.”

DAX- “sounds like that is the theme of the night. Jodi and I didn’t either.”

JONAS- “So what happened with you and Lo?”

DEACON- “Not sure, she wanted us to become “official” boyfriend and girlfriend, and I tried to explain to her that asking her to the dance was not a prerequisite for becoming a couple. She became upset and left.”

JONAS- “Sorry, my sister is not fond of rejection, but she will be fine.”

PERRY- “Yeah she can hand it out but can’t take it!”

DEACON- “Well the night shouldn’t be a total loss, what do you guys say about all coming back to my place for an after party. We have a nice game room, and a small movie theater.  We could hang out for a while. Want to?”

JONAS- “Sounds fine to me.”

DAX- “Perfect, why let the girls destroy our night, right!”

After a quick tour, the boys made their way to the game room, where Perry and Deacon played some ping pong.

And Dax and Jonas shot some darts.

After that, they made their way to the theater that was in the basement of the mansion.

JONAS- “This place is amazing!””

DAX- “Yeah, for sure, but not quite as amazing as you are Jonas!!”

JONAS- “Stop... let’s watch the movie!”

JONAS- “Perry!? There you are. Why are you sitting in here all alone. You said you wanted to talk to me about something. What was it?”

PERRY- “Nothing.”

JONAS- “Dude... what is wrong? Did I do something to upset you or something?”

PERRY- “No, Jonas, I just needed to get out of there. All this people out there all acting. Cassandra Goth going to the dance with Jamie Garrettson. What is that? I mean seriously.”

JONAS- “Jamie just wanted a  date, and Cassie’s girlfriend can’t be on school property... but why does that upset you? Something else is wrong, isn’t there?”

PERRY- “Then your sister. Coming with that Mahone guy, she barely knows him, and then Dax taking Jodi... it is all a farce. And then there is you and me.”

JONAS- “Just what are you getting at, Perry?”

The boys made their way in Jonas’ car to the Ainsworth mansion. For Dax, Jonas and Perry being new to Willow Creek , it was their first time seeing this elaborate home.

DAX- “Damn this is your house?”

JONAS- “I don’t think I have ever seen a house so huge before!”

PERRY- “I think they call this an Estate! Do you have ghosts???”

DEACON- “Not sure about ghosts, at least I have not seen any evidence of any. My Great Great Grandfather Ainsworth built this house ages ago, when my grandfather died last year he left the home to my mother in his will. It will either fall to me or my sister when my mother passes.

DAX- “Ainsworth? Your family is the Ainsworth’s?”

DEACON- “Yes, my mother was an Ainsworth before she married my Dad. They have been here in Willow Creek, almost as long as the Goth family.”

JONAS- “Well, I’m impressed! Just how rich are you Deacon!?”

So finally the big Homecoming day arrived, and the big dance was held in WCH gymnasium. The homecoming committee decorated the gym in fall decor and some of the students dressed to the max in suits and formals. Others just came as they were. Logan seemed to be really enjoying her evening with Deacon. She was not about to let Cassandra Goth intimidate her!

DEACON- “You look very pretty tonight, Logan.  I mean, not that you are not pretty every day, but tonight you look exceptionally pretty.:

LOGAN- “Thank you Deacon. You are quite dashing yourself. Did you know we both have been nominated as homecoming King and Queen? Wouldn’t that be something? Two of the newest students named King and Queen.”

DEACON- “You might be named as their Queen, but I doubt I will be King. No one really knows me.”

LOGAN- “I am your date. Trust me Deacon, they know you now. So you want to dance?

DEACON- “Not sure how good I am going to be, but sure...”

Jonas at first was taken back by Dax’s kiss, but he was hoping this would happen. He had been attracted to Dax as long as he could remember

JONAS- “For right now, this stays between us, Okay?”

DAX- “Of course. Are you ok---”

JONAS- “YES! I wondered how long it was going to take before your realized.”

DAX- “I didn’t know that you were---”

JONAS- “I am, Dax, Does anything else really matter, LOL. Come on, let’s get out of here and get home.”

Unbeknownst to Dax or Jonas, someone else was in the locker room and heard and saw everything.

JONAS- “Hey I have to tell Logan I am leaving and find Perry and see if he needs a ride home.”

PERRY- “Now that we are all teens, we need to experience all that life has to offer us!!  I mean we are only this age once, right?”

LOGAN- “What are you talking about Perry?”

JONAS- “Yeah, buddy, I am lost.”

LOGAN- First time ever, my genius brother doesn’t know what’s going on, but go ahead Perry enlighten us.”

PERRY- “Well, for starters we need to make it official, Logan.”

LOGAN- “Official? Make what official.”

PERRY- “You and me. I mean we have been best friends forever, and I know you like me as much as I like you, so we need to go steady, you know boyfriend and girlfriend.”

LOGAN- “Oh, okay, but Jonas is your best friend as well, and you two like each other just as much, so why don’t you ask HIM to be your boyfriend. And just so you know, I don’t believe that anyone calls it going steady anymore. I don’t even think our fathers referred to it as that.”

PERRY- “Okay, call it whatever, but I can’t ask Jonas to be my boyfriend, neither of us are gay, Logan.”

Jonas just sits there, not saying a word, but knowing Perry is digging himself into a hole....

LOGAN- “You are not gay so you can’t ask Jonas to be your boyfriend?  That makes perfect sense. Let me tell you something else that makes perfect sense. Just because we have been friends since we were in diapers does not mean that I automatically become your girlfriend. And to be honest, I never really liked you all that much, anyway. If you will excuse me I have to go pick out my clothes for school tomorrow....”

Later that evening mother met Daniel and Ian Hartmann along with their son, Perry at the home where her mother grew up. She had never been to the house prior to getting it ready to sell. They had cleaned it up a little, but it still was far from habitable.

BETH- “Good evening, glad you all you could make it. There is electricity so we can take a quick tour.”

DANIEL- “Thanks for meeting us here. I know this was last minute, but I really wanted Ian to see the place.”

IAN- “So how long has this place been vacant?”

BETH- “Unfortunately about 30 some years. So the work that needs to be done is quite extensive. But at the price we are asking for it, you can get a renovation loan to do the work that needs to be done and still be above budget.”

DANIEL- “Anything beats renting, for sure.”

BETH- “Okay then let’s go inside and look around.”
