Performer's Blog - Sarah April Lamb
Sarah April Lamb has drawn influence from the event space and the plays being held over Space Club: Theatre Uncut. She has created a physical performance piece, which is to be executed after the production of Smoke (and Mirrors) on Thursday 20th November.
Having read through the plays, I thought that it would be interesting to allow the audience to interact with my performance. Specific audience members will be given the opportunity to act and if they choose not to, the dance will simply remain on a loop with the same sequence repeated over and over.I drew ideas for the sequences from the physical items in a couple of the plays. I found the lamps that Sibylla is using in her direction of Smoke (and Mirrors) interesting in terms that they are literally shedding light on things within the play. The production also uses props such as bandages which are very intimate when dressing the wounds of the characters.
Drawing influence from the above, I've tried to play with the sense of curiosity, mistrust and the idea of the 'hidden', that recurs throughout the texts.
Sarah's piece will be performed at Space Club: Theatre Uncut at 5:40pm.
